When I was a child, two years seemed like an eternity. Now that I am no longer so young, two years seems like a blip, here and then gone in the blink of an eye.
However, just because it passes quickly does not dim its potential significance. Less than two years ago, as my youngest entered school full-time, I began looking for work. After being a stay-at-home mom for literally decades, no one would give me the time of day. My husband said, “Why don’t you write?” Those were some of the most beautiful words ever spoken to me.
I have always enjoyed writing – short stories, articles, poems, anything. I just never considered that I could make a profession out of it. I know there are lots of professional writers out in the world; I just didn’t think I had it in me to be one of them.
Flash forward two years. My first book is being published by Black Rose Writing, coming out in a month. I have written for several different magazines and I currently write an educational newsletter.
And . . . I’m working on my second book, I Am Seven. Dreams really do come true . . . and in just two years! What will the next two years bring – to you, to me?
